Have you ever noticed that your actions don't appear to be aligned with your dreams? This is because most people spend their days, weeks, months, and years, trying to be someone they aren't. They try to conform to the expectations of others, often at the expense of their authentic selves.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing... in certain contexts! However, if you continuously suppress your dreams and desires in favor of others, you bury your unique and valuable treasure. And you don't do anyone any favors. Because you suppress that which brings you joy, you become a shadow of who you are. This impacts on relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and others in the wider world. So what can you do about this?
Committing to a personal journey of self-discovery is the answer. This will not be a quick fix. It will be a lifetime exploration - exploring into your past, looking at your present, and imagining your future. It takes courage to start on this journey, and persistence and determination to continue. Many people give up when they find challenges, obstacles, and dragons. However, having experienced mentors and coaches to guide you on your journey will ensure your success.
How you define success will depend on what you are looking for on your quest. Often the treasure you end up finding is not what you expected. More often than not, it is something even better. As the hero of your quest, it's not the destination, it's who you become on the way; it's the willingness to do whatever it takes to find yourself; and it's discovering what makes your heart sing so strongly, your passion becomes contagious.
